DONT CALL ME DARLING II
Timber Chair
50cm x 40cm x 80cm
‘Don’t Call Me Darling II’ is an exploratory piece within a broader series that employs the symbolism of everyday domestic objects to amplify marginalized voices and perspectives. This work intimately channels the reflections of a local sex worker, offering a raw and vulnerable excerpt from her journal. Through her words, we witness the delicate balance she navigates — the tension between her capacity to give, the unmet needs that surround her, and the complex interplay of desire, identity, and self-worth. It is a meditation on her ongoing search for love and compassion, both for herself and for the people whose lives she touches.
With her words engraved into the material of the dining chair, the piece is intended to take a place at a table, centering, and gradually humanising those within the fringes of our society.
